Montreal Families

Free filmmaking class for kids

The Montreal Children’s Library is offering a seven-week introduction to filmmaking program for children 7 and up starting in March.

Montreal filmmaker Rami Farhat will lead a group of 10 to 15 children through the process of making a film, starting by explaining how it’s done, and then having them write a script together, act it out and film it. The children will be the writers and stars, he says, he’ll be the director and editor and he’ll have help from friends to do the filming.

“I encourage parents to come along, it will be a fun experience with their kids,” Farhat said.

The program will be given on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. from March 14 to April 25, when the film will be screened for families. It takes place at the Atwater branch of the library, 1200 Atwater Ave.

The program is free, but you need to register, call (514) 931-2304.
