Grandes Oreilles is a free family musical event that will be held in St. Viateur Park in Outremont on Sept. 7 from noon until 7 p.m. The event is returning with bigger plans for its third year after a successful second edition.
The Académie de Danse d’Outremont will be offering a hip-hop workshop for the whole family from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. This was very popular last year. There will be a drumming workshop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. presented by l’École de musique Vincent-d’Indy, and Francis Pineau will host an introduction to electronic music, presented by la Société des arts technologiques, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. At 5 p.m., youth from various organizations will present a performance of music and dance. DJ Himo will close the event with music at 7 p.m.
Throughout the day, there will also be face painting, games, drawing contests and food, including a BBQ at 5 p.m. Introduction to music activities for kids include a workshop on building an instrument. All activities are free (some workshops may require same-day registration).
