There will be a new stop on the Montreal Museums Day tour this year – the newly opened Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium.
The annual Montreal Museums Day will be held Sunday, May 26, 2013, and this year 34 museums will offer free admission from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Free STM shuttle buses will have six different bus routes taking visitors to museums in different parts of the city. On the same route that takes you to the Planetarium, you can also visit the Biodome. There are also routes going north to Cité Historia, which brings to life the old village of Sault-au-Recollet, and west, to the Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier and the Musée de Lachine which will feature a treasure hunt and simulated archaeological digs. Buses leave every 20 minutes from the Promenade des artistes in the Quartier des spectacles at the Place des Arts métro station until late afternoon.
For more information visit www.museesmontreal.org or check out the websites of the individual museums for details on the workshops and presentations they’ll be offering.
