Since 1987, the last Sunday of May has been a day dedicated to getting to know and love our local museums.
On May 24, get ready to amass as much culture as possible as 34 museums open their doors to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free event is organized by the Montreal Museum Society and sponsored by Quebecor, in collaboration with the STM.
There is a free bus service that runs every 10 to 25 minutes and offers five pre-selected museum routes that will shuttle passengers to a slew of special cultural activities, like tastings and surprise guest speakers. The bus terminus will be at the place-des-arts metro, Jeanne-Mance exit.
There will be a family fun spot that opens at 10:30 am in the promenade des artistes, outside metro place-des-arts, where kids will get to work on a creative activity with artists from MU, an organization that beautifies the city with murals. There will also be face painting and a thematic photo booth.
This year Montreal Museum Day welcomes two new participants, the Canadian Guild of Crafts and the Musée de l’imprimerie du Quebec.
