Montreal Families

Four new birthday party options

After a few years of organizing birthday parties at home, complete with decorations, cake and activities for the little ones, even the most dedicated parents may start to feel a bit weary. Thankfully, Montreal has a bevy of entertainers who will come to your home as well as venues where the birthday child and friends can enjoy activities while the parents relax (and leave the clean up to someone else). The following are some new ideas for parents looking for a different party option.

Bonnie's School of Dance, Pierrefonds, Birthday PartiesBonnie’s School of Dance

4495 Westpark Blvd., Pierrefonds

Whether you’re son loves to break dance or your daughter dreams of being a ballerina, Bonnie can offer a dance party to please almost every child. The basic party package is $150 for approximately 12 kids (ages 3 years and up) with studio time, a teacher and refreshments (not food).

Children spend one hour and a half dancing and then head to the reception room for presents, cake, and pictures. Parents are responsible for the food but employees clean up afterwards. If parents prefer to have the party catered by the studio, they can opt for the $250 package, which includes food, cake and an extra 30 minutes of studio time.

PowerCo Fitness, St. Laurent, Birthday PartiesPowerCo Fitness Parties

Kids who love to move will enjoy a sports-filled party at this gym. For $285, the staff from PowerCo Fitness will organize games such as floor hockey, dodge ball and soccer for kids ages 3 and older (up to 35 kids!). After an hour and 15 minutes of play, the party continues in the reception room. You can bring your own food and hire an outside entertainer. Staff deals with clean up. Parents can opt for a Boot Camp class for a party, as well as shorter events for groups of younger children. And for $7, parents who want to keep busy can use PowerCo’s fully equipped gym while the kids have fun. For more information, call (514) 674-0822 or visit www.powercofitness.com.

Party with Po, Fang Shen Do Kung-Fu Laval, Birthday PartiesParty with Po

5300 #1 St. Martin Blvd., W., Laval

If you’re looking for an activity that will burn off energy and teach kids some cool martial arts moves, then check out the parties organized by Fang Shen Do Kung-Fu in Laval. The standard package costs $200 for up to 8 kids (ages 5 and up) plus $6 for every additional child. The party includes one hour of martial arts activities, featuring drills and games, led by their mascot Po the Panda. Then there is a 90-minute reception where children eat cake and open presents while animators make balloon animals. Parents must provide the food but the staff take care of the clean up. The fee includes a DVD with a video montage of the party.

Rocket Race Car Parties, MontrealRocket Race Car Parties

Location of your choice.

If you have a child who adores cars, then Rocket Race Cars may be a good option for a party. Animators will come to your home or party venue and help kids build a customized race car. Kids then race their creations on a giant track. Guests also receive a special driver’s license and they decorate a bag to put their race car in. Cost is $22 per child, with a $2 discount per child for groups larger than 15. The activity is geared towards children ages 3-12 (parents will need to stay and help guests who are under 4). Rocket Race Cars will visit homes within a 30-km radius of their main office in St. Lambert.
