The Montreal Fire Department is opening its doors to families at 22 fire stations across the city on Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Families will get a chance to learn about the job of firefighters and prevention officers, the tools used and equipment worn. Kids will also get the opportunity to climb aboard and check the ins and outs of the fire trucks.
In addition, the open houses will offer fire-prevention tips with the help of the SIMulator, a recreational vehicle used for fire-prevention activities. The RV is 35 feet long and designed to teach proper behaviour in a fire crisis. Families will be educated on what causes fires, all about smoke detectors and evacuation plans.
