Female hockey players teach skills to kids

Every young hockey player wants to learn to play like the professionals. Now they can with the Youth Winter Skills Clinic organized by Les Canadiennes de Montreal.

On Dec. 29 and 30, kids are invited to take part in specialized workshops to learn and improve on various skills with the help of Les Canadiennes players and coaches. Although the program is geared to girls, boys are also welcome.

Kids will be taught a complete range of techniques for improving stick-handling and shooting as well as the habits and attitude necessary for constant progression. They will also learn how to build greater confidence with the puck, improve team spirit as well as have the opportunity to interact and learn from female role models.

The clinics are for Novice, Atom, Pee-wee, Bantam and Midget players. It includes four hours of on-ice instruction, Les Canadiennes practice jersey and snacks.

All sessions take place at Etienne Desmarteau Arena, in Rosemont. The cost is $160 for one player of goalie, $288 for two players in the same family or $408 for three players in the same family. Registration is required. For more information, call 514-688-8956 or visit pointstreaksites.com.
