Families can win a decorated Christmas tree with gifts

At this family friendly event, kids can have a photo taken with Santa and enjoy a treat from the baked goods table

You may recognize them by their tiny fez hats, but the Karnak Shriners hope everyone will soon know them by their community charity event. From Nov. 22 to 24 and Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2019 the Karnak Shriners are inviting you to get into the holiday spirit during its annual FEZtival of Trees Christmas Event, which raises money and awareness for the Shriners organization.

At the event, people can purchase $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win a fully decorated Christmas trees donated by local businesses and organizations. Winners will receive the decorated tree as well as all the donated gifts underneath it. “Our goal is to bring the community closer together by providing an opportunity to enjoy the magic of Christmas,” said Ryan McLaughlin, event chairman.

The two-weekend event will offer activities for children and families, including the opportunity to meet and take a photo with Santa. Those with a sweet tooth can also indulge at a baked goods table.

Funds raised from the charity event will go towards programs run by Karnak Shriners. Admission is $2 per person but free for kids 12 and under. The event is being held at the Karnak Temple, 3350 Sources Blvd., in D.D.O. The tree raffle draw will be held on Dec. 1 at 4:30 p.m.
