You may recognize them by their tiny fez hats, but the Karnak Shriners hope everyone will soon know them by their community charity event.
From Nov. 17-20, 2022 the Karnak Shriners are inviting you to get into the holiday spirit during its annual FEZtival of Trees Christmas Event, which raises money and awareness for the Shriners organization.
The hours for the weekend event are Friday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. People can purchase $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win a fully decorated Christmas trees donated by local businesses and organizations. Winners will receive the decorated tree as well as all the gifts underneath it.
There will also be refreshments and activities for children and families, including the opportunity to meet and take a photo with Santa. The times for a visit with the jolly fella are Friday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Funds raised from the charity event will go towards programs run by Karnak Shriners. Admission is $2 per person but free for kids 12 and under.
The event is being held at the D.D.O. Civic Centre, 12001 de Salaberry Blvd., D.D.O. The tree raffle draw will take place Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m. Winners will be able to take home their trees immediately, with pick-up no later than Monday, Nov. 21.
