Exporail has a train just for young kids

Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum, has a new permanent exhibit for children ages 3 to 7. A wooden Canadian Pacific Railway baggage car from 1913 has been transformed and renamed the Little Railroaders Car. It is divided into three sections that teach, through play, how baggage was handled, food was prepared, and how they caught people who snuck on without a ticket.

Exporail hosts Canada’s largest railway collection, with 160 vehicles, 10,000 artifacts and more than 1,000 scale models, complete with an observation pit to explore a diesel-electric locomotive and steam locomotive.

The museum is open daily until September 3. As of September 5, it will be open Wednesday through Saturday. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located at 110 St. Pierre St. in St. Constant. Admission is free for children under 3, $43 for a family of two adults and two children between 4-12, $16.50 per adult, and $8 for children 4-12.
