Plaisirs d’Hiver (Lasalle)

FreeTake advantage of the joys of the winter season, thanks to the Plaisirs d’hiver family event.
Noon – 4 p.m.
- Introduction to cross-country skiing
- Take part in a beginners’ lesson, guided by a coach, to discover the basics of this sport.
- Equipment provided. Limited number of participants.

- Coureurs des bois immersive activity
- Welcome to New France! Come live the immersive experience of the coureurs des bois during the cold season. You will pass through an obstacle course that ranges from carrying a bundle on snowshoes to identifying animal furs, and including a rabaska ride, then ending with trout fishing using a net!

- Bring your skates! No skate loans on site.

- Play activities on the snow

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- Workshop-talk
- With this workshop-talk, historian and storyteller Francis Désilets takes you back to New France! Follow in the footsteps of the brave coureurs des bois and voyageurs who travelled great distances by canoe to trade with the Aboriginal nations of the Great Lakes region.
- Learn more about the daily life of these men: their work day, the dangers, the materials transported as well as the actual trading with the First Nations.
- Two workshop-talks between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- Supervised introduction to ice fishing

- This activity will be cancelled in case of bad weather.
- Collection of winter equipment
- Give a second life to your old winter sports equipment (sleds, skis, snowshoes, skates, etc.) by participating in the donation and exchange activity organized by the Éco-quartier.

- The booth presented under the theme “Winter traditions” will be mainly focused on wildlife in winter and the fur trade. Naturalists from the organization will be on hand to answer all your questions.

- Snowshoeing “In the footsteps of the coureurs des bois
- As this activity is intended for families, the pace will be adjusted so that the youngest can keep up. A few breaks will be taken so that the naturalist can share information on urban wildlife in winter. At a chosen moment during the activity, participants will be invited to test their ability to run on snowshoes, and therefore imagine themselves for a moment as coureurs des bois. This activity will encourage observation and is intended as an introduction to a winter activity accessible to one and all.
