Kite Making Workshop (Plateau)
April 15 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
FreeThe workshop begins with an introduction to the world of kites by artist Robert Trépanier (Les Ateliers Verts). He talks to the participants about the origin and the different practices around the world. Robert also discusses some scientific notions related to kites.
Afterwards, the participants make their kite. First, they draw on a canvas, their own masterpiece using oil pastels. Then, they build their kite from simple materials: recycled plastic, wooden sticks, string and sticky paper. Then, safety instructions are given to the participants and everyone receives a 40-meter reel of string to fly their kite. The type of kite offered is called a “luge” and flies very easily, regardless of the speed of the wind.
The workshop ends with a group flight to La Fontaine Park.
