Elite gymnasts competing in Montreal

Some of the best gymnasts in the world are coming to compete in Montreal this month, at an popular local competition that has been held annually for 27 years.

The International Gymnix event will be held March 8-11 at the Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard, 1000 Avenue Émile-Journault, Montreal. The event will feature four days of competition among athletes from Canada, the United States and beyond.

Since 1991, the competition has welcomed athletes from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Finland, France, Great-Britain, Israel, Italia, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New-Zealand, Peru, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, United States, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The Gymnix women’s gymnastics club was founded in 1973. It is the only gymnastics club in Quebec who has qualified athletes on the Canadian Olympic Team in the past twenty years. Since 1988, six athletes from the club have gone on to become Olympians.

A weekend pass is $50 for adults and $25 for children, or families can buy a single-day ticket at $20 for adults or $10 for children. Discounted day passes are also available for $7 for adults and $5 for children, but these do not include the international competitions.
