Montreal Families

Drum lessons for kids around Montreal

If you are looking for a way to interest your children in music, drum lessons may be a good option. After all, I can’t imagine many children who wouldn’t want to be given sticks and then permission to make a lot of noise. And from a practical standpoint, drumming teaches kids about rhythm, eye-hand coordination, concentration and communication (drummers must constantly be listening and responding to the other people playing around them). It can also be a great stress reliever, making it a popular choice for teens.

If you’re worried about noise levels in your home, take heart. There are many different styles of drums, some quieter than others. Electronic drum kits are also available, which allow the player to hear through headphones (thus sparing family members). You’ll find a variety of courses in Montreal, from a basic introduction on a regular drum set to groups focusing on world music or even Japanese Taiko drumming. Here are some places to check out:

Private lessons teach rudimentary drumming plus whatever the student wants to learn, including jazz, pop, rock, and blues.
