Dance aficionados of all ages will want to sashay over to Place Bonaventure on April 28 and 29, 2012 for the city's first dance-themed fair, called DansEmotion Expo.
The event will feature both exhibitions and conferences, including dance classes for even young kids. Visitors can learn about local dance schools and programs, as well as meet with representatives from the National Ballet of Canada, Cirque du Soleil and the American Music and Dramatic Academy.
Dance classes ranging from hip-hop to salsa will be offered during the weekend. Most of them are for ages 12 and up, but on Saturday and Sunday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., local group Funky Feet will offer a class for ages 3-5. Also, Saturday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., San Tropez Dance School will hold Latin dance lessons for ages 5-8. On Sunday from 1 p.m to 2 p.m, a New D.A.E.I Dance Academy is giving a hip-hop class for ages 8-11.
Experienced young dance students can also submit a one-minute video clip of a performance to be considered for a Creative Innovation Award, which includes a cash prize. Clips must be submitted by April 20, 2012.
Tickets to the exposition are $15 for ages 6 and up, free for children under 6. Workshops and classes have an additional fee. Place Bonaventure is located at 800 de la Gauchetière, Montreal.
