Nourri-Source, a Quebec-based organization that promotes breastfeeding, has gone through many changes in 2020 and the most recent one includes becoming a fully bilingual resource for mothers who are breastfeeding their newborns. Previously only in French, the organization has launched a bilingual website and is working on offering training in English for its English-speaking breastfeeding support volunteers by the end of May.
The organization offers many services to mothers across Quebec thanks to its more than 700 breastfeeding support volunteers. Over the phone, email or by text message, mothers are paired with a pre- and postnatal volunteer, and are offered breastfeeding support according to their needs. Pre pandemic, volunteers also offered in-person support at workshops organized at the CLSCs or through other partners, so mothers can share their breastfeeding experiences or problems with each other.
Mothers can also get support at the Nourri-Source Facebook forum or through virtual nursing clinics via Zoom.
In 2020, Nourri-Source has increased its social media presence on Instagram and YouTube and published a brochure on breastfeeding and cannabis. Because of the new stay-at-home regulations, it has also began training sessions for their volunteers online.
