Borrow winter equipment at Harwood Nature Park

Vaudreuil-Dorion’s Harwood Nature Park is a new outdoor spot for residents and visitors to enjoy this winter. The vast site of the former Harwood Golf Club was officially acquired by the city this summer, and the majority of responses to an online survey stated that the population wanted the site’s natural environment respected.

With that in mind, the nature park will offer year-round outdoor access that will enable walkers, hikers, and bikers the opportunity to breathe in the fresh air and admire the mature trees and fauna.

Slew of winter activities

Starting this winter, visitors to the park can opt to stroll the trails or, conditions allowing, try some of the seasonal gear that is available to borrow. Starting December 18, there are snowshoes, walking sticks and crampons. Fat bikes and cross-country skis will be at the site in a couple of weeks. Rentals are free for residents of Vaudreuil-Dorion, and non-residents pay a fee for the equipment’s hour-long use.

If anyone’s toes get chilly, cozy fireplaces at the Welcome Pavilion are a good spot to warm up, and Vaudreuil-Dorion residents can get a free hot beverage upon presentation of their citizen card and vaccination passport. Wearing a mask is mandatory.

Follow the city’s Facebook page to stay up-to-date on other happenings at the park this winter, including Plaisirs d’hiver and its family-friendly activities. To find opening hours, available equipment, trail conditions, and more, visit ville.vaudreuil-dorion.qc.ca
