Best Buy hosting holiday tech event

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Best Buy.

The electronics company is kicking off the holiday season with its Best Buy Tech Wonderland event where guests learn about some of the newest technology on the market.

This free event aims to combine tradition and technology to bring the magic of the holidays to life. In partnership with some of the biggest names in tech like Google, Sony, Microsoft, and VR gaming brand Oculus, people can discover the latest in gaming, gadgets, or gizmos, or simply enjoy the holiday spirit.

Virtual reality experiences & Santa visit

From handheld devices to virtual reality experiences, visitors can try out a multitude of products. And no holiday event would be quite complete without an appearance from Santa. Visitors can not only meet with the jolly old fella but can operate his Smart Sleigh with Google Nest Hub Max voice commands.

Other activities will include creating custom holiday ornaments, a 100-inch screen audio-visual experience with Sony, trying out simulated race car driving with XBox series X, and experiencing the cutting-edge of virtual reality with games like Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge or the fitness challenge program, Supernatural. And if virtual reality is not your cup of cocoa, retro-style arcade games will also be available.

Entertainment and giveaways

For the less tech-savvy, there will be live performances by carollers and magicians as well as giveaways up for grabs.

The event will take place from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Jacques-Cartier pier in the Old Port.
