A celebration of all things canine
For the first time, Montreal dog lovers will have a festival dedicated to their faithful companions. Inspired by Woofstock, Toronto’s dog festival, Fabio Broccoli, Billy Alfonso, and Larry Day decided they should do something similar in their own city.
On Oct. 8 and 9, Dog Fest Montreal will have entertainment for the whole family including shows with trained dogs, live music, restaurants and vendors.
There will be various canines, including agility dogs, military dogs, the Police K9 Unit as well as an agility course.
Vendors will be selling everything from toys and food to accessories and grooming products. There will also be dog registration and micro chipping available along with several professional dog trainers offering tips to owners.
The festival organizers will donate a portion of the proceeds to Gerdy’s Rescues and Adoptions, a Montreal-based animal rescue group devoted to finding homes for abandoned and homeless cats and dogs.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be set up along the Lachine Canal just west of the Atwater Market. Admission is $10 online or $15 at the entrance and free for children 12 and under.
