New art school in N.D.G.
The newly-opened Smallest School of Art is trying to prove that big doesn’t always mean better. Located in a one-room studio in N.D.G., this school offers classes for children and adults, with the goal of encouraging people to create art with recycled or
environmentally-friendly materials. Some of the techniques used include felting, quilting and weaving. There’s also an animation course as well as sculpting with materials such as socks, gloves and mitts you bring from home. Small classes, with a maximum of six students, are held throughout the year. Dance school spreading its wings
This fall, Montreal’s dance doyenne Louise Lapierre is offering classes in Laval, Brossard, Repentigny and St. Laurent as well as at her studio on the Plateau. Courses for children, teens and adults are available in many styles from ballet and jazz to tap and hip-hop. Classes starts September 10.
For almost 40 years, Louise Lapierre has been offering dance training, with families travelling across town to reach the studio. The new locations will allow the company to meet a growing demand for courses. Kids are allowed to try a class for free — just call in advance to reserve a spot.
