Free family musical event returns to St. Viateur Park
On top of many musical events, there will be face painting, games, contests and food
Grandes Oreilles is a free family musical event that will be held in St. Viateur Park in Outremont on Sept. 9 from noon until 7 p.m. The event is returning with bigger plans for its second year after a successful first edition.
Musician Paul Kunigis will open the festival and the Académie de Danse d’Outremont and the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy will be offering dance workshops for the whole family from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The previous edition’s hip-hop workshop was one of the most popular activities of the event, said organizer Gunther Gamper.
Les Escales Improbables, whose artistic performers combine music, theatre and dance, will be presenting a music store installation disguised as a fruit market that allows visitors, for example, to plug their headphones into a potato to interact with music in a new and unusual way.
At 5 p.m., youth from various organizations will present a performance of music and dance.
Speakeasy Électro Swing, with dancers from Studio 88 Swing, will close the event with a performance at 5:30 p.m.
Throughout the day, there will also be face painting, games, contests and food. Introduction to music activities for kids include a workshop on building an instrument. All activities are free (some workshops may require same-day registration).
