Cirque du Soleil has announced they are producing a new television series for children in collaboration with the Discovery Kids network.

The show will follow young performers at a fictitious circus school as they try to navigate their unique environment. Viewers will catch a glimpse into the pressures faced by students as they try to balance friendship with achieving personal and professional success.

Filming for the show will take place in Montreal, and the Cirque du Soleil headquarters in St.-Michel will be one of the main shooting locations.

Leila Basen, who was the creative director of the CBC series Heartland, will be the showrunner. Award-winning director/actress Cris Morena will produce the series.

The series was born of a new partnership between Cirque du Soleil Images, the multimedia division of Cirque du Soleil, Apartment 11 Productions and Discovery Kids, a Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic (DLA/USH) network.
