Colourful family fun at Rigaud fall festival

There will be many activities for kids including face-painting, go-karts, ski-lift rides and more

Every October, Rigaud celebrates the colourful changes of the season with its Festival des couleurs, a weekend-long event that features tons of family-friendly entertainment.

This year’s festival will take over the Parc Chartier-De Lotbinière and Mont-Rigaud Ski Centre, as well as parts of Arbraska, from Oct. 6-8.

At Parc Chartier-De Lotbinière, there will be face-painting, go-karts, and a performance by animator Anne Lune and her friend, Balthazaar, who will sing about self-esteem and confidence.

Kids can enjoy a sweet treat at the Sucrerie de la Montagne before jumping on the Petit train des couleurs. They can get physical with Gymini Gymnastics Club, Arbraska’s Akropark zip-lining, or enjoy walking tours throughout the park.

The park will also host educational workshops and kiosks from local organizations like Le Nichoir, which will teach kids about wild birds. There will be food trucks on site, as well as a food market and a camp area where families can eat together.

Guests over the age of 2 get unlimited access to the park for just $2. Toddlers and babies under the age of 2 get in for free.

At Mont-Rigaud,  families can kick back and enjoy the view of the ski slopes at the panoramic picnic area. They can also enjoy helicopter tours, ski lift rides, mountain bikes, horseback riding and more for a fee.

At Arbraska, guests can explore the popular Arbre-en-Ciel Village, a colourful hideaway with treehouse, obstacle courses, zip-lining and more for all ages. The festival’s mascot, Kiki, will be hanging around to take pictures with.

There is also the ARTEMANIA walking trail, which combines nature and art. There will be swings, a picnic area, animation, music and a campfire with s’mores for kids.

Free shuttle buses will take guests to and from each location.
