On Nov. 15, teens and their families are invited to take part in a lecture focusing on youth empowerment and community engagement.

The free event, held in collaboration with Agence Ometz and Herzliah High School, will feature motivational speaker, entrepreneur and founder of the Count Me In Movement, Shane Feldman. Drawing from personal experiences of rejection and betrayal, 22-year-old Feldman will discuss how to break from social isolation by encouraging young people to foster healthy relationships and friendships, and to play a more active role in their community.

At the heart of the Count Me In movement is the idea that teens can have a positive impact on the world and can build up their self-esteem through activism, volunteering and altruistic actions.

The free event is part of the Betty and Bernard S. Shapiro Family Lecture Series and will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be held at the Gelber Conference Centre, 5151 Cote St. Catherine Rd.
