Redpath Museum offers Saturday workshops

Kids who love science and history might be interested in one of the new workshops offered at this museum downtown

Kids with a flair for science and history can take part in new workshops at the Redpath Museum. Until Aug. 26, the museum will be open on Saturdays for interactive activities and workshops covering a broad range of educational topics.

For history buffs, there will be several Ancient Civilization workshops. Kids aged 9 to 11 can learn all about Greek mythology on May 26, while on June 9, young adventures can explore the world of ancient Mexico and the Mayan Empire. Workshops cost $12 per child and last an hour and a half.

For little ones aged 4 to 6, there will be games and activities led by scientists during the Science Playground with Captain Catalyst events. There will also be workshops for kids aged 5 and up where they can dig for fossils with the help of Palaeontology technician Chantal Montreuil. Curious minds can uncover shark teeth, fish spines and scales, and other neat fossils while digging and sifting through dirt.

The Redpath Museum is located at 859 Sherbrooke St. W.
