Annual event celebrates the world of horticulture
The Great Gardening Weekend celebrates its 20th anniversary with free one-day admission to the Botanical Garden
Visitors can show off their green thumbs and learn all about horticultural practices during the annual Great Gardening Weekend at the Botanical Garden.
This year’s edition, which runs May 26 to 28, marks the event’s 20th anniversary. To celebrate, visitors get free admission the Friday. Over the weekend, there will be more than 80 information booths and kiosks set up in the pavilion and six speakers covering topics relating to horticulture and foodscaping, including how to grow your own garden in an urban centre like Montreal.
In honour of Montreal’s 375th birthday, experts at the Botanical Garden participated in the selection of a unique, brightly-coloured flower dubbed the “Montreal Coneflower” that was cross-bred specially for the city. This hybrid flower, along with dozens of other types of plants and gardening accessories like bird feeders, will be available for sale throughout the weekend.
Regular admission prices will apply on May 27 and 28. The Botanical Garden is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 4101 Sherbrooke St. E.
