Travel books target pre-teens

A new series of travel books focuses on kid-friendly actvities in various cities.

A new type of pocket travel book for kids is available for families who enjoy exploring cities. KidsGo! is a collection of six colourful books, full of tips on kid-friendly activities in New York, London, Sydney, Bali, Hong Kong and Phuket, Thailand. While the publishers say the books are geared for those 7 to 14, kids in the upper age range might find the illustrations and text a bit childish. However pre-teens will probably enjoy using the books to plot out itineraries and learn some local terminology. The books have suggestions about rainy day activities as well as restaurant recommendations. The series also includes an online component where families can leave comments and post photos on the KidsGo! website. The series is available for pre-order online at Chapters and will hit Canadian bookstores in June. The next kidsGo! guides will feature Miami, Paris, Tokyo, Singapore and Montreal.
