Expos Fest celebrates sports and family
The second edition of this fundraiser is raising money to help find a cure for an inoperable, aggressive brain tumour
On April 2, several former baseball players will be auctioning off autographed memorabilia and photographs to benefit the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation during the second edition of Expos Fest.
Attendees will get the chance to mingle with former players like Dennis Martinez, Cliff Floyd, Bob Bailey and Andre Dawson and purchase signed items like baseballs, jerseys and bats. Proceeds will go towards the Kat D DIPG Fund to help find a cure for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a type of aggressive and inoperable brain tumour. The event is held in memory of Catherine Demes (pictured right), a 5-year-old girl who passed away from DIPG in 2015.
More than $135,000 have been raised so far to the fund. A general admission ticket costs $7 and a $10 ticket gets you an autograph and a photo taken with one of the players. For the super fan, there is the VIP Meet and Greet Package for $150 where you can chat with the players, get items autographed and take photographs. There will also be face painting, arcade games, a wrestling ring and batting cages.
The event will be held at the Plaza Centre-Ville, 777 Robert-Bourassa Blvd. from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
