Family racing madness at Outremont Park
Participants can choose from eight races and every member of the family can participate to raise money for a good cause
If you’re looking for a fun outdoor activity for the whole family, then Foulée des Parcs may be just the thing for you. On June 9, participants of all ages and abilities are invited to choose from a number of races taking place in and around Outremont Park. All proceeds will be go to Outremont en Famille, a community group that supports families in need.
Last year, approximately 2,000 Montrealers participated and 200 people volunteered. This year, there will be eight options to choose from: one-kilometre races for children, two-kilometre and five-kilometre races for seniors, a stroller race for parents with young kids, and a family relay-race, as well as five-kilometre and 10-kilometre races open to everyone. For the first time this year, there will be a seniors’ Dare to Act walk, as part of the activities surrounding World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15.
Prizes will be given out to the winners, as well as some special awards, such as “Quirkiest Family” or “The Biggest Age Gap” in the family relay race and participation medals in all the children’s races.
The events will take part in and around Outremont Park and surrounding streets will be closed to traffic. There will be water and snacks available for runners; however, organizers are encouraging participants to bring a reusable water bottle. The costs vary depending on the race.
