St. Hyacinthe Expo a massive event with family activities

The annual expo will be hosting tons of friendly-family activities at its farm on the South Shore over 10 days this summer

For eleven days this summer, a massive agricultural event will take over a farm on Montreal’s South Shore. The annual Expo St. Hyacinthe will take place from July 26 to Aug. 5 and will feature tons of educational activities, daily shows and concerts.

Children of all ages can meet more than 2,000 animals on the farm, hop on and off the 25 rides at the amusement park or take part in numerous activities.

Parents will want to make the Espace Famille their first stop, as it will host the most kid-friendly entertainment. Daily pony and tractor rides, inflatable playgrounds, special performances and more will be available.

There will be plenty of music- and dance-related events at this station. Kids can test their drumming skills with Saya Percussion on July 27, or dance and sing with animator Maria Cannelloni during her four hour sessions on Aug. 3. On July 29 and 30, kids will get a chance to meet some of their favourite characters like Darth Vader, Stella and Ruben from PAW Patrol, Masha et Michka and more.

Kids can also participate in story-driven scavenger hunts. On Aug. 1, they can assist Captain Barbe Rose on his quest to find his one true love, Irene the Mermaid, as he animates puppets and plays the guitar.

Also located within the space is La Place de la Famille du lait, a large pool area where kids can swim or ride around in pedalos. There will also be picnic tables with parasols for families to relax by the water.

On Aug. 5, the Expo Bar Lassonde will host even more kid-friendly shows, including singer-songwriter Brimbelle and her plush friend, Foin-Foin, who will be performing country and folk music, as well as Ann Buchon and her puppet Balthazar, who will be teaching the importance of confidence through sing-alongs and comedy routines.

Young foodies between the ages of 4-10 will want to stop by the Centre BMO where they can create healthy snacks or indulge in some buttered biscuit treats.
