A Toronto travel site geared to kids

Parents can involve the children when planning the next family trip to Toronto with this new kids-first website

Planning to visit Toronto, but not quite sure what activities are kid-friendly? Your child can now design an itinerary on their own and have fun doing so. Yo-Toronto.com is designed to inspire and entertain younger guests, filled with games, activities, videos, and fun facts. The colourful map navigation and quick, up-beat videos allow kids to explore more than 20 Toronto landmarks and attractions to shape their family trip.

Johanne Bélanger, President and CEO of Tourism Toronto, said the planning portion of travel can be very educational for kids. "Yo-Toronto is a kids-first site meant to give kids the opportunity to participate in the trip planning experience," she said. "It’s an ideal combination of fun and learning and that should include the part of the trip that happens before the family even gets into the car or boards the plane.”

Parents can plan the details of their Toronto trip through the expanded SeeTorontoNow.com, including hotels, neighbourhoods, events and practical tips like transportation options. Meanwhile, at Yo-Toronto.com, kids can explore the city with an interactive map that shows the city's biggest attractions like the Toronto Zoo, Hockey Hall of Fame, Air Canada Centre, Canada’s Wonderland, BMO Field, Rogers Centre, and more. Once the child picks a desired location, they could be welcomed with facts, clever jokes, videos, and more.

Every page that can be visited looks different and is designed specifically for its attraction. For example, after clicking on the CN Tower, you will be able to scroll down an image of the enormous tower, and on your way down, learn some interesting facts (one being, it has 1,776 steps), read jokes, and watch a video of what the CN Tower looks like from the inside. You can keep your kids entertained off the website with print-friendly activities to take on the road, scavenger hunt-styled games, and ‘best of’ lists to help families get the most out of their time in the city.

The website is accessible via desktop computer, phone, or tablet and presents a great way for parents and children to plan their trip together while having fun and learning something new.
