Urban ziplining at the Old Port
Hang on! MTL Zipline is offering kids ages 7 and up a chance to zip down at speeds up to 60 kilometres an hour at this new activity at Hangar 16
Those with a taste for adventure and a love of heights are in for a treat with Montreal's urban zipline located at the Old Port. Kids ages 7 and up (must weight at least 50 lbs.), who weigh at least 50lbs, can enjoy the superman experience as they soar 26 metres above the city skyline.
“People are very excited because it’s one of the only experiences that really gives you a thrill in the Old Port,” says Anne Dongois who works with MTL Zipline. There are two cables set up side by side (hint: bring a friend to share in the fun) and the ride spans about 366 metres (1,200 feet) and takes 45 seconds to complete, reaching speeds as fast as 60 kilometres per hour. Participants fly over Bonsecours Island before reaching the arrival tower, which practically sits on the water.
It is open from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. everyday, with the exception of nights when the firework shows are on, in which case it’s open until 11:30 p.m. It costs $19.99 for adults, $16.99 for kids under 12 (proof of age required), and is located at Hangar 16, near the Bonsecours basin.
