New skating trail opens at Olympic Park Village
Every year, this Olympic village invites families to take part in various outdoor activities and listen to live music
The Olympic Park’s annual traditional Christmas village opens with a bang on Dec. 15, with a special program that includes fire eaters, free hot chocolate and free skate rentals for those who want to try a new skating trail added this year.
Throughout the opening weekend, there will also be a DJ, door prizes and entertainment until 9 p.m. each evening. Saturday and Sunday will also feature a visit from a special guest; from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Santa Claus will be on site, ready to listen to children's holiday wishes. Opening festivities start at 4 p.m. on Fri. Dec. 15 and continue until closing on Dec. 17.
The V Winter Village, now in its sixth year, features products from local artists like Electrik Kidz, Terre à Soi, La Petite Charlote, Coccinelle Jaune and Tisanerie Mandala. Restaurant Cabotins, which will sell hot drinks and crêpes, will be on site.
Shoppers can warm up in a heated rest area, and skaters can enjoy a heated space to put on their equipment. Skate rentals will be available and there will also be helmets, supports and padlocks. Rental rates vary from $2-8 depending on the equipment. Free skating lessons will also be offered for beginners big and small.
Throughout the winter season, the village will host a number of other activities, including live music every Thursday, Zumba classes every Saturday at 10 a.m., and a story hour every Sunday at 3 p.m. On Jan. 13 & 14 and 20 & 21, the BARBEGAZI festival will be in full swing, offering activities based on extreme sports.
Special programming will also be offered on March 3 for Montreal’s Nuit Blanche event and during spring break, with free skate rentals on March 10 and 11.
