Support group offered for teens with anxiety
Young people between the ages of 15 and 17 can discuss their personal experiences living with mental health issues
Beginning on Jan. 25, community organization Agence Ometz will be offering young people the opportunity to share their experiences with anxiety in a group setting. The sessions are geared towards teens between the ages of 15 and 17. Over the course of six weeks, participants will discuss and learn more about anxiety in a safe setting led by a mental health professional. The hope is that by sharing personal experiences, the teens can help each other cope by learning about different ways of dealing with their issues. Those interested can register online for the six weeks up until the first session. The cost is $270.
Jan. 25 is also Let’s Talk Day, an initiative by Bell to promote awareness and erase the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Along with these support groups, Agence Ometz offers social services relating to immigration, employment and education. The support sessions will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on-site at Agence Ometz, 5151 Cote Ste Catherine Rd. For more information or to register, visit their website.
