Skating and tubing at Olympic Park’s winter village
Village Mammouth offers activities filled with fun and entertainment for the whole family
If you want to partake in some tubing and skating in the city this winter, the Sun Life Esplanade at the Olympic Park has what you’re looking for and more. The second edition of Village Mammouth, a temporary wintry attraction, will be made up of a large, refrigerated rink, a brand new Télétoon slide and entertainment area as well as several heated places to warm up including a giant dome with lockers to store your things and Adirondack chairs to lounge on.
To kick off the festivities, the grand opening event will take place on Dec. 9 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature musical performances by Montreal DJ's Mike Robia and Sandy Duperval. Here are the main attractions that will be available for the coming months:
The illuminated and animated skating rink will be open to families. If you don’t want to bring your skates, you can rent equipment, including skates, helmets and ice strollers. There is a large, heated dome to put on your skates as well as lockers for storing personal belongings. Access to the rink is $5.75 per day.
Snow tubing slide and kid zone
The Télétoon slide can be enjoyed by the whole family. Access to the slide is $5.75 per day. Like the rest of the park, the Télétoon zone will light up at night and offer different games, activities and entertainment for young kids.
There will be two food trucks permanently on site. On Saturdays between Jan. 28 and March 4, there will be a special 'Snowfood' section, provided by the First Fridays team, with additional trucks serving meals and snacks.
There are various zones with lit, portable heaters where visitors can warm up or relax while enjoying some food.
There will also be a winter market called District Nord where visitors can browse through booths selling different local products from over a dozen artisans.
Along with the opening weekend blowout, there will be several special events held at Village Mammouth including a New Year's Eve party, Nuit Blanche and Spring Break events.
