Alexander von Humboldt School Montreal - Thomas Linse
ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT SCHOOL MONTREAL
Thomas Linse, Principal
Thomas Linse became principal of AvH in February 2013. Prior to that, he spent 8 years as headmaster of a secondary school in the Stuttgart area in Germany. He has been active as a teacher of the subjects French, Italian and Geography for over 30 years. At AvH, he also teaches at the secondary level, and this direct contact with his students is very important to him. Mr. Linse has gained his professional experience not only in Germany but also in France and Great Britain.
The trilingual aspect of AvH with German, French and English, coupled with the unique characteristics of a German school located in Quebec and its international orientation in a friendly learning environment, are of central importance in his pedagogical work. Remarkably, about two thirds of our students do not speak German at home. Most of them start at an early age and in small classes, and therefore acquire proficiency in the language, allowing them to obtain the ‘German International Abitur’ (DIA) after grade 12. With this internationally recognized diploma in hand, students can apply directly to universities in North America, Europe and Germany.
